" Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising. Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead."

IDOLATRY, PRAYER & REPENTANCE
In accordance with the word of God the "Bible" we must not confess our sins or ask for forgiveness from or through a Priest, a Viccar , a Bishop, a Saint, or Mary, a Pope, or anyone else other than God the father through our lord Jesus Christ.
We are to go directly to God. It is God who we have been seperated from because of sin and have become His enemy , and it is to God that we must be reconciled. We are to look and pray to no one else aside from Him through Jesus Christ the only mediator between God and man for the forgiveness of our sins.
Jesus said, "when you pray, do not use vain repetitions, as the heathen do..." (Matt. 6:7). Do not repeat the same prayer over and over again. Pray from your heart and in your own words. Religions that chant memorized prayers over & over again, think they will be heard but Jesus says, "Do not be like them” (matt. 6:8).
Praying before graven man-made religious images is forbidden by the commandments of God, It is Idolatry, it sin against God. Please read for yourself the many scriptures and commandments from the Holy bible:
Deut. 5:6-10;
‘I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. ‘You shall have no other gods before Me. ‘You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
And many more: Deut. 4:9-16, 23 & 24; Exodus 20:4; Lev. 26:1; Deut. 7:26; Deut. 8:6; Deut. 12:30-32; Deut. 16:22; Jer. 16:10-21; Hosea 4:1-12; Deut. 27:15; Acts 15:29; Acts 17:24; Acts 17:29-30; 1 Jn. 5:21; 1 Cor. 6:9; 1 Cor. 10:14; Gal. 5:19-21; Rev. 21:7,8.
This means that we are absolutely forbidden by God to kneel, to pray before, to burn incense, to light candles, to dance before, to lay garland of flowers or other offerings before any carved or graven man-made image that would be used in religious ritual or devotions or worship or prayer.
If you have been taught otherwise you have been lied to and deceived. Forget about your customs and religious traditions if they contradict the commandments of God.
Obey only God and His commandments. Let us be wise as the apostle Peter and the other apostles when they boldly declared,
"WE OUGHT TO OBEY GOD RATHER THAN MEN" (Acts 5:29).
